Parents today often lament the time their children spend fixated on video games while the sun is shining brightly outside and the day is wasting away. However it may help parents to understand that video games and video gaming do not need to be the life draining experiences they appear to be and that parents can use the addiction to video games to help solve a child's problems in other areas of life. Many children like to interact with each other either over the computer or over their video game system and they like to do so with a headset microphone that they use to speak to each other. However there are games online that still allow people to chat via the keyboard as opposed to speaking into a microphone and while the temptation for your children to want to use the microphone may be strong you can find games on the internet that will appeal them that do not use a microphone. These games force the children to interact with each other by typing in to the keyboard and within a few weeks of using games like this you may just notice a difference in your child. It may not seem likely but if your child is forced to communicate with other people using a keyboard they are more likely to pay attention to their sentence structure and their spelling so that they can be certain to get their point across more clearly. Not every internet video game player is a teenager that understands the various symbols and abbreviations used online so your child will be forced to communicate using standard sentences and spelling. After a few weeks of using online keyboard communication you will notice that your child has developed a broader vocabulary, better spelling skills, and better grammar skills as well. Video games today are becoming more interactive than ever before and just because your child prefers to play video games indoors does not mean that they have to miss out on exercise. Get involved in your child's gaming habits and purchase game systems and games that involve more physical activity. You will find that not only does your child take to these types of games but they are getting off the couch and moving around to play the games as well. It may not inspire your child to run outside and play but at least you know that they are off the couch and getting the exercise they should be getting on a daily basis. Interactive games also allow kids to continue to get exercise when the weather outside may prevent that from happening. You have not only solved the problem of your child getting exercise with the interactive video games but you have also assured that they will be getting exercise regardless of what the weather outside is doing. Parents do not need to look at video games as though they were the enemy in raising a child. A creative parent will see video games as an opportunity to get their child the basic skills they need to compete in the real world. Even your child knows that at some point they will have to get off the couch and get a job so you should be helping them develop their skills any way you can.
